KERN Allevo — SAP-Integrated Operational & Multi-Year Planning

A focused research profile of SAP planning, activity quantities and rates, multi-year method boundaries and financial-planning components.

SAP-Integrated Operational & Multi-Year Planning

KERN describes Allevo as an ABAP extension within SAP, with Junan as an Excel frontend and Koodai as a browser frontend. Both support bidirectional exchange. SAP is the central data basis; browser infrastructure and offline workbooks still need an explicit operating design. [source] [source]

The research question reaches beyond annual budgeting: can the chosen SAP objects and planning methods connect quantities, costs and activity rates with a consistent financial plan across years?

Multi-year capability depends on the method

Officially documented

The SAP manual describes multiple years, months and versions. Its direct activity-dependent layout transfer limits activity quantities and amounts to the first year; the rule-based activity-dependent method is described without that restriction. [source]

Flexible Planning supports row-level years and versions and a special layout with up to ten year columns. Those columns are not a general horizon limit. In the special multi-year method, AT activity rates are planned only in the first year. [source]

The method is an acceptance criterion.

For a five-year model, ask KERN to demonstrate quantities, capacity, fixed and variable rates and receiving relationships in every year. A feature labelled “multi-year” does not settle the full calculation chain.

Activity planning and manufacturing-cost valuation

Flexible Planning documents activity quantities, capacity quantities and fixed / variable rates. Decide whether SAP calculates a rate or an externally calculated rate is supplied. Then follow that rate into the agreed product-cost basis. [source]

The CO-PA manual describes reading and posting plan data. It also states that BAPI plan posting does not automatically perform manufacturing-cost valuation; separate KEPM / KEGV processing is described. A successful upload therefore needs a follow-on valuation and reconciliation test. [source]

Financial-planning components are documented

Allevo Balance describes transfers of upstream CO / PS plans into FI and P&L, balance-sheet and cash-flow views. The Profit Center manual adds transfer tables, contra-account assignments and CashManager payment timing into following years. [source] [source]

Unclear / not publicly verified

These are substantive financial-planning components. A complete industrial model still needs to demonstrate opening balances, inventory, capex, depreciation, tax, financing, interest and balance carry-forwards in the intended SAP release and planning mode.

Confirm the SAP object and release

The Profit Center manual describes direct ACDOCP planning with PLAN_OP_MODE 1. Older generic online help still describes that mode as a test function. These sources are not fully synchronized. Obtain current confirmation by object, Allevo release, SAP deployment and planning mode. [source] [source]

A profit-center example does not establish identical support for activity rates, CO-PA or balance-sheet planning. Specify target tables, overwrite / delta behavior and how repeated submissions are reconciled.

Source-version boundary: the SAP and Flexible Planning download URLs contain “4.4”, while their covers state “valid from 4.5”. The reviewed Profit Center and CO-PA manuals state 4.4. These distinctions remain in the source notes.

Would another planning platform make Allevo redundant?

Editorial interpretation

Compare the required process, not the presence of a SAP connector. Another platform could replace a particular Allevo workload if it serves the same objects, quantities, rates, release controls and SAP follow-on processing with a maintainable design.

An external management model can also coexist with SAP operational planning. Define the authoritative calculation and released plan for each responsibility; avoid parallel rate engines or duplicate financial postings.

Other KERN tools address different tasks

Cycles

KERN documents Excel-based editing, validation, documentation and history of SAP allocation cycles. That task can remain relevant alongside an external finance model. [source]

Kyra Stream

KERN describes source–transformation–target process automation in SAP. Any proposed planning handoff still needs confirmation of its actual adapters and processing scope. [source]

These are possible complementary tasks, not documented partnerships with Corporate Planner, Lucanet or FACTON.

A customer case with a defined scope

Customer-reported

KERN’s Weidmüller case describes cost-center planning with Allevo since 2019, replacing a custom macro / upload process. It supports an industrial operational-planning example. It does not establish a complete five-year product-cost, balance-sheet and financing model. [source]

The industrial demonstration to request

Editorial test design
  • Five plan years: monthly detail in year one, annual detail later, with explicit allocation and carry-forward rules.
  • Two product families, a constrained work center, primary costs, activity quantities and fixed / variable rates.
  • Scenarios for volume / mix, material prices, utilization, capex and payment timing.
  • Trace released product-cost inputs into inventory, margin, working capital and funding.
  • Run the SAP write / read-back process, required valuation and reconciliation against the chosen target objects.
  • Repeat a submission and a corrected scenario to test release identity and prevent unintended additions or overwrites.

A standard FACTON connector or a validated joint reference was not established in the reviewed evidence. Use a defined data contract and demonstrate the required transfer.

A factual review route

The business-side workstream can cover industrial logic, requirements, UAT and reconciliation. Product configuration and current SAP architecture belong with the appropriate specialists. No Allevo-specific implementation credential is claimed for Gunnar.
